Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you find a decline in your heating and cooling charges, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and custom-made for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our wide range of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who will give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To speed up the process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has been given the opportunity to consider the requirements of the job and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large variety of first-rate products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Calgary area home as you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We recommend that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not recommend glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they have a tendency to leave streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. We require them to complete a carefully crafted set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We seek out the best Calgary-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Calgary Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t perform. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Having a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the expertise of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. If you have any concerns, simply contact our office or your sales representative and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are many reasons why Calgary homeowners pick Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella was founded in 1925 and has remained privately-held the entire time. Every one of our high quality windows and doors are produced with attention to detail and serviced by Pella’s professional Direct Sales Network. Unlike other manufacturers who sell exclusively through lumberyards or big box stores, Pella has dedicated windows & door design centers across the United States and Canada. This unique way of doing business gives the homeowners in Calgary a highly personal experience with the help of a local to Calgary, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a superior quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
